Fundus privacy policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026. Fundus is developed by Sven Schnieders.
Your local Library
Fundus stores Sources, saved Items, reading and playback state, settings, and references to local-media folders on your device. Original local-media files remain under your control. The app does not own or delete them.
Optional iCloud
If you enable sync, Library records and state are sent to your private CloudKit database in your Apple iCloud account. Apple processes this data under its own privacy terms. Sync uses an account identifier locally to avoid mixing data after an account change. Original local-media file contents are not uploaded by this sync feature.
You can disable sync in Fundus settings and continue using your local Library. Disabling sync does not itself delete records already stored in iCloud. For help with data removal, email support@fundusinbox.com or send TestFlight feedback before changing or deleting app data.
Requests to content providers
Refreshing feeds, discovering feeds, displaying remote images, opening links, and playing remote media sends requests to the relevant provider. Those providers can receive network information such as your IP address and the requested URL. YouTube playback contacts YouTube/Google. Providers apply their own privacy policies. Publisher JavaScript is disabled by default in the general reader; this does not block all remote content requests.
Add Source looks up a link you type or paste once you stop typing, before you choose Add, so it can say what the link will add. A link that was already copied when Add Source opened is looked up only when you edit it or choose Add. Finding a feed can also ask a service other than the link's own: Apple Podcasts and Overcast links are looked up in Apple's podcast directory; for Spotify and Deezer shows, Fundus gets the show's name from that service and searches Apple's podcast directory for it; a Deezer link also asks Deezer for the show's recent episodes; a SoundCloud link loads the account's SoundCloud page.
Diagnostics and feedback
Fundus keeps a bounded diagnostic history locally, up to seven days and 4 MiB. Technical events describe app operations and failures. Optional source details are sanitized and encrypted on the device. Report a Problem on Mac and iOS lets you review the history, choose whether to include source details, and save or email it. A report includes the app and system versions, device model, language, region and time zone, Library counts and sync status. It also includes recent crashes and hangs the system reports to Fundus, described only by exception codes, signals, hang length and code locations as binary names with offsets. Nothing is sent automatically. You can clear this diagnostic history there. Saved reports and prepared email attachments are separate copies. Copy Support Information contains version, operating system, and sync/refresh state, without Library content, Source URLs, file paths, or account identifiers.
When you send TestFlight feedback, Apple delivers the report and associated information to the developer under its TestFlight terms. Information you choose to send is used to investigate problems and improve Fundus. Avoid including private content that is not needed for support. Email support@fundusinbox.com to ask about information you previously sent.
Your choices
Use the app locally with sync off, remove Sources or archive Items, and export readable Library data or subscriptions. Removing a Source in Fundus does not delete the original media files. Keep a backup before deleting app data. Requests already received by external content providers are subject to their policies.
